About Wacky Genes 3D
Wacky Genes 3D is a mobile-first, browser-based (and iOS-packaged) breeding sim built with TypeScript and Three.js. Players hatch eggs to collect procedurally-rendered animals — starting with cats, expanding to dogs, deer, owls, bears, and tigers — and breed them together using a genuine Mendelian genetics engine: dominant/recessive allele pairs, Punnett-square crosses, and dozens of coat patterns and colors that combine into visually unique offspring, including cross-species hybrids. There are no pre-made 3D models; every animal's body, coat, and markings are generated at runtime from its genotype. Around the breeding core sits a full game loop — a two-tier coin/gem economy with a shop and in-app purchases, a hunger/health/feeding system, explorable 3D habitat environments, and social features like an auction house and stud farm for trading and pairing animals with other players. The UI is an accessible HTML/CSS overlay on top of the WebGL scene, with accessibility support (reduced motion, high contrast). The project is a ground-up rewrite of an earlier SwiftUI/SpriteKit iOS game, reusing its genetics rules and design while rebuilding everything else in 3D.
